Mortal Kombat series creator Ed Boon released a teaser photo of four shadowed figures with the title “Who’s Next?” last week. This comes as a official announcement of new DLC content to be released during the beginning of 2016. Currently Mortal Kombat X has released this year it’s first list of characters in the forms of The Predator, Tanya, Tremor and the horror icon Jason Voorhees. With each character released, additional skins of characters that shipped with the standard Mortal Kombat X release.

Currently the only information released by WB Games and Ed Boon is that the new downloadable content will contain new playable characters, additional skins for characters released in the first year of Mortal Kombat X. Something additional to the DLC release is a new stage inside the game. No screen shots of the new stage have been released at this time.

This news comes shortly after WB Games, the company behind Mortal Kombat X, announced that they have stopped developing Mortal Kombat X on the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3. WB Games pulled the development of the title because they felt they could not meet the standards of the community on the last generation consoles. Players of the game on the Xbox One or PlayStation 4 understand because of the quality of the game released early this year but several of the gamers wanting to play Mortal Kombat X on the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3 are upset at this news because of the gaming being announced for the systems at the beginning of 2015. WB Games has formally apologized to the community and felt that as a company of they needed to keep their mind focused on the quality of the game instead of the number of systems it could be played on.

It is hard to fault Mortal Kombat X or its developer for keeping their focus on the quality of the game. This same focus hopefully will keep the new life recently breathed into the game heading in the right direction.
